Getting started
When you live-stream on Mixcloud, we'll automatically save an audio recording you can publish for your listeners to enjoy on-demand.
Please note the following information before getting started:
-
Recordings will only be made available for live streams that are between 15 minutes and 6 hours.
-
-
If your stream is longer than 6 hours, please record your show locally on your streaming device if you'd like to upload it later.
-
Remember to stop your stream from your broadcasting software on or before the 6-hour mark to avoid disappointment.
-
-
-
It's not currently possible to download or edit your live recordings before publishing them.
-
-
You may wish to consider setting up your software to save a local copy of your live stream.
-
-
-
As an audio-focused platform, only the audio from your live stream will be recorded.

Recording the live stream
Starting the recording
We wanted to make saving the audio from your live stream as easy as possible, so we'll start recording automatically when you begin your stream.
NB: Remember to start your local recording if you're saving a copy to your computer or streaming device. Please check the documentation for your streaming or recording software for instructions.
Ending the recording
The recording will stop when you end your broadcast to Mixcloud Live.
Remember to keep your stream within our recording limits (between 15 minutes and 6 hours), as we don't currently save recordings for shorter or longer streams.
What if my live stream disconnects?
Our system has been designed to recognize temporary interruptions to your stream. If your live stream is interrupted and reconnects within 10 minutes, the audio will be combined and saved as one recording.
If your live stream is disconnected for over 10 minutes, our system will consider the next time you reconnect as a new session and the recordings will be saved separately.
We recommend waiting at least 10 minutes between your broadcasts if you're streaming two different shows back-to-back and would like these saved to your profile as separate shows.
Publishing the show
Processing the live stream for publishing
Once your broadcast has ended, we'll automatically process the recording so it can be published to your Mixcloud profile alongside your other shows and tracks.
It can take some time for your show to process, sometimes up to a few hours. Thanks for your patience.
⚠️ If over 24 hours have passed since your live stream and your show is not available in your drafts folder, please contact Support as soon as possible.
Finding your live stream recordings
When your show has finished processing and is ready to publish, you'll be able to find it in your show drafts when you log into Mixcloud on a computer:
https://www.mixcloud.com/dashboard/my-shows/drafts/
A banner will also be displayed at the top of the platform to let you know the show is ready:
Editing the draft and publishing your show
When you click 'view draft' on the banner or 'edit and publish now' in your drafts folder, you'll be taken to the show editing page, where you can update the title, add a description, tags, and tracklist for your show. For more information on editing a show, see our article here.
As a Pro subscriber, you can also add Hosts, schedule your upload for later, or set your show to Exclusive (for your subscribers only) or Private.
Once you've edited your show, simply hit 'Publish' and your live stream recording will be added to your profile.
