We have recently had a number of users encountering a problem where the Mixcloud app stops playing when their phone is put to sleep or left idle. This can be due to the Battery Optimisation or Power Saving settings for Android devices and so we would advise following the steps below to modify your settings and make sure your listening doesn't stop.
Please note that, due to the variety of Android devices, these steps may differ from the steps you'll need to take on your device.
Below are links for guidance from some of the main Android device manufacturers:
The specific method to disable Battery Optimisations may vary depending on your device, Android version and Manufacturer, but for many devices the battery settings can be found and changed using the following steps:
- Go to your phone Settings
- Go to Apps
- Find the Mixcloud app
- On the app settings, click Advanced
- Click Battery
- Click Battery optimization
- Ensure Allow Background Activity is enabled
- Ensure Mixcloud is Not optimized
- Ensure Background limitations is not enabled
You may also find that this option appears by searching for Sleeping apps in your device Settings. If Mixcloud appears on the list of sleeping apps then simply remove it to solve this problem.
