If you're experiencing unexpected pauses when using the Mixcloud app on an Android device, this may be due to battery optimisation features included by the manufacturer. These features might stop apps from running correctly in the background, or may pause audio from apps when your device is locked or goes into sleep mode.
If the general troubleshooting advice for mobile devices hasn't resolved a playback issue on your Android device, you may be able to update your settings to help avoid these interruptions.
Steps to disable battery optimisation features will vary depending on your device. In general, you should be able to take these steps (or similar) to update your settings.
Turning off battery optimization for the Mixcloud app:
- Open your device Settings
- Go to the settings page for Apps
- Find the Mixcloud app
- Tap Battery (this may be under advanced settings)
- Make sure Mixcloud is set to Unrestricted. Depending on your device, this may mean making sure that Optimized or Restricted are not selected.
Turning off 'sleep' settings:
Samsung Galaxy devices:
- Open your device Settings
- Go to the settings page for Apps
- Find the Mixcloud app
- Tap Battery (this may be under advanced settings)
- Tap Background usage limits
- Toggle off Put unused apps to sleep
Other Android devices:
The path to sleep and battery optimisation settings varies by manufacturer. Generally, look in Settings > Apps > Mixcloud > Battery and ensure the app is set to "Unrestricted" or that any sleep/optimisation options are disabled. Consult the manufacturer-specific links below for guidance.
