What is Host Tagging?
Host Tagging is a powerful new Pro tool allowing you to publish one show to multiple profiles, better organize your content and aid discovery of your shows.

New Host Tagging Feature Publishes One Show to Multiple Profiles
Do I need Pro to use the feature?
You'll need a Mixcloud Pro subscription to get started with this new feature. Pro will give you access to Host Tagging, unlimited uploads, engagement stats, and other great tools. You can read more here or contact our Support team for more information.
Inviting and managing hosts
How can I see the hosts I've invited?
You can view the hosts who have accepted your invitation via the Hosts tab on your dashboard.
This list will also show pending hosts you've added via tags on your uploads. However, it won't show any hosts that you've sent the invite link to directly until they accept the invitation.
What happens if I want to tag someone who isn't a host yet?
Your hosts don't need to be on Mixcloud for you to start tagging them on their uploads! All you'll need is their name and email address to get started.
To add hosts from your dashboard:
You can use the link from your dashboard to send an invitation to your hosts. When they click your link, they'll see your invitation, and they can accept by logging in or creating an account.
To add hosts directly to uploads:
You can also invite hosts to join your station during the upload process or when you're editing a show or track. Simply click 'Add Hosts', and if the user isn't listed, click 'Add new host'. Add in their name and email address, and we'll send them an invitation.
They'll be listed as a host on your station and on any uploads you've tagged them in as soon as they accept your invitation.
I want to take back an invitation I've sent to a host or remove a host
Depending on how you invited the host to your station, you can take back an invitation by removing the user from your list of hosts or pending hosts, or you can reset your invite link:
- Head to your Hosts tab
- If you can see the host you no longer want to invite in your list, you can remove them here
- For hosts who have accepted, you can click 'Remove' next to their name
- For pending invitations, click 'Options' then 'Remove Host'
If the user wasn't listed as a current or pending host and you sent your invite link to them directly, you can reset your invite link.
NB: if you reset your invite link, this won't impact current hosts. However, you'll need to send your new invite link to any hosts who haven't accepted your invitation yet.
To reset your invite link:
- Head to your Hosts tab
- Click 'Add hosts'
- Under your current invite link, click 'Reset it'
- Read the information and confirm that you want to reset your link
What happens when I remove a host?
When you remove a host, they won't be listed as a host for your station or curator profile, and they'll also no longer have the badge on their profile.
Hosts you've removed won't be able to send new requests to be tagged on your uploads. However, they will still be listed as hosts for the content they were previously tagged on, and this will still show on their profiles unless you choose to remove the tag or draft or delete the upload.
Adding and updating tags on your uploads
What happens when I tag a host?
When you tag a host during the uploading process, the host’s followers will receive a notification about your show, and the host will be able to publish the same show directly to their profile.
Notifications are currently only sent when hosts are tagged during the upload process. If you’d like to organize your shows by adding hosts without sending notifications to their followers and your own, you can edit a show’s details after it’s been published.
What kind of content can I tag hosts on?
You can tag hosts on shows and tracks that you’ve uploaded to your profile.
While it’s not currently possible to tag hosts on an ongoing live stream, you can tag hosts once you end your live stream and publish it to your profile for your listeners to access on-demand. You can find more details about this here: How do I save my live stream on Mixcloud?
Can I change or remove hosts from a show?
You can remove a host from shows or tracks while they're still in your drafts or when they're published.
From your dashboard:
- Open your list of published or draft shows
- Navigate to the upload you wish to edit or remove a host from
- Click 'More options'
- Click 'Edit hosts' and make your edits
- Click 'Confirm' to save your changes
From the show or track page:
- Scroll down to the buttons above the upload description and tracklist
- Click 'Edit show/track'
- Look for the Hosts section beneath the Description field
- Click 'Edit hosts'
- Click 'Save' to update your upload
I can't add more hosts to my upload
It's currently only possible to add a maximum of two hosts per upload. If you'd like to update your upload to list the two most relevant hosts, please see the instructions above.
Can I tag hosts using the API?
Hosts can be tagged on new and existing uploads using the API. Please check out our Developers/API documentation here for more information:

How hosts interact with your station or curator profile
Can a host upload directly to my profile?
Hosts can only upload to their own profile, and hosts will not be able to share their content directly to your profile.
What details can hosts see about my uploads?
Hosts with Mixcloud Pro will be able to see stats for the uploads they've been tagged in to help them understand how listeners have engaged with their shows and boost their creativity. This includes listener minutes, top listeners, and engagement graphs.
Hosts won't be able to access stats for any other hosts' content on your profile.
Can a host edit a show they're tagged on?
Hosts aren't able to make edits to your uploads, including shows or tracks they're tagged on.
What happens when I delete an upload someone is tagged on?
When you delete an upload or move it to your drafts, this will also be removed from your host's profile.
Will my followers be notified when the host uploads to their own profile?
The host's followers will receive notifications when you tag the host during the uploading process. However, it's not currently possible for hosts to tag your station in their own uploads.
This means that your followers won't receive notifications when the host uploads to their own profile.
Further FAQs
What happens if I end my Pro subscription?
If your Pro subscription ends, you'll no longer be able to invite new hosts, and your hosts won't be listed on your profile anymore.
Additionally, profiles without Pro are only able to publish a limited number of shows and tracks, and any older uploads over these limits will be moved to your drafts and won't be available on your profile or your hosts' profiles.
What happens if I no longer wish to use Host Tagging?
If you no longer wish to use Mixcloud as a station or curator, you can remove your hosts from the Hosts tab.
Please note that this won't change or remove tags for shows you've previously uploaded. However, there will no longer be a list of hosts on your profile, and you won't be able to invite additional hosts or tag hosts in any new uploads.
Can I embed our profile's uploads on another site?
If you'd like to share your profile's uploads to another site, you can use the share option to find code to embed the widget on your site.
You can also customize this code to filter the widget by host, so it only displays content that a particular creator has been tagged on.
Check out our article here for more details: Embedding content using the Mixcloud widget
