FAQ: Host Tagging for hosts
What is Host Tagging?
Host Tagging enables stations or curators who upload content made by other DJs to officially tag hosts in shows. Tagging gives hosts credit for their work, and publishes shows directly to their profiles, notifying their followers. We have a great post on our blog that will best explain all the benefits and how to make the most of this feature as a host. You can check it out here.

Getting started
How do I get invited to become a host?
If a station or curator you're affiliated with has enabled Host Tagging, they're provided with a link that they can send out to invite hosts to join their community.
The station I want to host for doesn't use Host Tagging yet
If the station or curator you host for doesn't already have Host Tagging enabled, we recommend getting in touch with them to let them know you're interested in connecting on Mixcloud. Our blog has some great articles you can share with them, including:

The station I want to host for uses Host Tagging already
Stations are responsible for selecting and inviting hosts to connect with them on Mixcloud.
If you have contact details for a station or curator that has uploaded your shows, you may wish to reach out to them directly about becoming a host.
It's not currently possible to request to join a station via the platform or via our Support team. Thank you for your understanding.
Do I need Pro to become a host?
No. You can get started for free on Mixcloud and showcase up to a total of 10 shows and 10 tracks. This includes both your own uploads and the ones you've been tagged in.
You can enjoy unlimited uploads by upgrading to Pro, which will allow you to showcase all your personal uploads and tagged content. With a Pro subscription, you can also see stats for both the shows you've uploaded and been tagged in by stations or curator profiles, so you can better understand how listeners are engaging with your content and take your creativity to the next level.
Tagging and uploads
Can I edit an upload that I have been tagged in?
It won't be possible for hosts to make changes directly to the uploads they have been tagged in. We recommend contacting the station or curator directly about any changes to the show's title, description, tags, or tracklist.
I haven't been tagged on content that I hosted
You can request to be tagged in a show following these instructions.
Please note that stations and curators are responsible for approving tag requests and can choose to accept or reject a tag request. Additionally, it's currently only possible to tag a maximum of two hosts per show.
I was tagged in an upload, but it's missing from my profile.
There are a few reasons a show may appear to be missing from your profile after you were tagged in it:
The upload is in your drafts folder
If you can still see the upload on the station's profile and you're tagged on the upload, but you can't see it on your own profile, the upload will be in your drafts folder. You can find your drafts here for tracks, and here for shows.
You may have moved the show to your drafts manually at an earlier point, or you may have reached the limits for the content you can upload without a Pro subscription. You may wish to consider upgrading to benefit from the creator toolkit features, including unlimited uploads.
The tag was removed by the station / curator
If the upload is no longer available on your profile but you can still see it on the station's profile, the station may have changed or removed the tag on the show. You may want to reach out directly to the station for more information.
The upload was moved to drafts or deleted by the station / curator
If you can no longer see this upload on Mixcloud (on your profile or the station's), the station may have moved the upload to their drafts folder or deleted it from their profile.
Please note that stations and curators are responsible for selecting and managing their own uploads, and our Support team is unable to restore a station's upload on behalf of another user or move uploads from a station to a host's account. Thank you for your understanding.
How can I remove an upload I've been tagged in?
You may not want an upload you've been tagged in to display on your profile.
Although it's not currently possible to remove a tag for a show, you can stop it from showing on your profile by moving the show to your drafts folder. This can also be useful to remove duplicates of shows you've uploaded personally to your own account.
To learn about how to move an upload to your drafts, please review this article.
When you move a tagged upload to your drafts, this won't make any changes to the station's profile, and the upload and the tag will still be visible to their listeners.
To request the removal of a tag or deletion of a show from a station's profile, please contact the station directly.
Will my uploads post directly to the station / curator’s profile?
When you upload content to your own Mixcloud account, this won't be posted to the station's profile.
When a station uploads to their profile and tags you in content, this can be displayed on your profile. Your followers will also receive a notification about the content you've been tagged in, so they'll never miss one of your uploads.
Live-streaming and playback FAQs
Can a station tag me on a live stream?
It's currently only possible for stations and curators to tag hosts in shows and tracks that are available for on-demand listening. However, if the audio from the live stream is saved for on-demand listening, you can request to be tagged once this is published.
Can I listen to my own shows on the station without limits?
Please be aware that playback limits will apply to shows you're tagged in when they're uploaded to a station's profile. You may wish to consider subscribing to Premium or directly to the station's profile so you can listen without limits.
Can I embed my uploads on another site?
If you'd like to share your uploads to a host's profile to another site, you can embed and customize our widget so it only features the content you've been tagged in.
Check out our article here for more details: Embedding content using the Mixcloud widget
Further FAQs
What if I don't want to be listed as a host anymore?
Stations and curators manage their own lists of hosts and the tags for their uploads.
If you want to be removed as a host for a specific upload, or if you're no longer interested in being listed as a host, please reach out directly to the station to request removal.
